The dishonest journalism by Politico.com became glaringly obvious in the presidential bid by Senator Fred Thompson . Politico got caught writing a phony piece of journalism against Fred Thompson so what do they do? They write another one! (see documentation below) |

Documentation of Politco.com's Dishonest Attacks on Fred Hewitt's Lovefest with Politico Bob Novak reveals in this new piece that it was Mitt Romney's campaign who told Politico.com that Fred was dropping out after Iowa to endorse McCain. Recently Hewitt went nuts praising Politico.com (see here). Look what Hewitt says: "A note on Politico.com. Connected Mike is just one player on an all-star team that has gone from zero to the land-speed record for political news. I spend most of my on-air time with Mike and the superb Jonathan Martin as well, but the entire team is extraordinary and have done a great deal to improve political coverage." Hugh, "all-star team?...", "zero to land-speed record?...", "the superb Jonathan Martin?...", "the entire team is extraordinary?...", and you have to love this one "done a great deal to improve political coverage?" Hey Hugh, give me a break! The only reason you are saying that is because they were good to your boy and dishonest towards Fred. Don't you think that was a little obvious? Jonathan Martin in Denial
Just look at the title of
this one, "Fred
will try to fight on." Try...Try...Try to fight on??? No sir, Fred
fought on! Jonathan Martin writes the following:
"Even under Thompson's best scenario, however,
two major obstacles remain. First, he is very short on cash. How does a
poor third-place finish in Iowa — with no hopes to do any better in the
next two states — inspire his donor base? Second, there is another
Southerner in the race who will also have considerable appeal in South
Carolina — Mike Huckabee."
Because of Martin the money rolled in to Thompson.
The money rolled in by people
disgusted with negative hit pieces like this one! Thanks Jonathan!
Jonathan's piece doesn't get any better. He goes on to say: "ALSO
— A final note on the
story Mike Allen
and I wrote on Wednesday saying many in Thompson's orbit thought he'd drop
out after a poor Iowa finish. This was a heavily reported piece that made
very specific points based on the information and insights of a variety of
sources. It was not a prediction, but a reported story detailing the dim
views held for Thompon's prospects by individuals within his circle —
views that have not changed much post-Iowa."
Jonathan, come on buddy, denial is not just a river in Egypt. Your steady
attempts to try and destroy Fred were obvious to all. You can continue to try
and cover yourself but we see right
through you. One last thing, it's "Thompson" not "Thompon."
Update:
Quin Hillyer
at American Spectator answers Jonathan's sorry excuse given above, "As
I said on Fox News yesterday, for a news outlet to publish a story with
UNNAMED sources that is clearly damaging to a particular campaign, on the
very day of (or eve of) an election, is just unethical journalism....Why
hasn't the Politico retracted its story?"
Unethical indeed! Politico Is Still Up To Their Same Games....
John F. Harris and Jonathan Martin write, Jan 3rd 10:22 pm ET, in
this hit
piece that: "Fred Thompson had said in recent days that he needed to
come out with a second-place finish. His third place gives him no surge of
momentum and compounds his financial problems. While some of his
advisers are recommending that he exit the race, last night they said his
plan for the time being is to keep his campaign going and hope for a
comeback later this month when the race heads to Dixie in the South
Carolina primary." These dishonest hacks knew that Fred was joking as was evident by the context of the comments and the numerous times he has answered this fallacious accusation already! Yet they still kept running with it - Dishonest journalism to the core. And just who are these advisers that were recommending this - guys? How much do you want to bet they won't tell. They don't exist! - oh wait, I mean they wish to remain anonymous.... Since when did Jonathan Martin become an adviser to Fred? Their Vote Zapping Tactics January 2nd 11:05 pm ET Jonathan Martin and Mike Allen release an article designed to dishearten anyone planning on caucusing for Fred so they will cast their vote for someone else Read Here
Fred Debunks This Hit Piece Also see Jed Babbin's Piece here Won't Admit They Were Wrong - They Do It Again!
Fred finishes 3rd and stays in the race only to have Ben Adler, on January
4th 2:16 am ET, write a piece called
"Resignation greets Thompson's third place"
In this piece he dishonestly mischaracterizes Fred's speech and the
FredHeads's reaction... as can be seen in this video
Mischaracterization to Try and Take Out Fred
The shenanigans by Politico are not much of a surprise
after Roger Simon wrote a hit piece on December
19th 1:35 pm ET. The article is entitled "Fred
Thompson: Lazy as Charged."
Roger says that
Fred disrespected a fire chief by not putting on his hat and having a sour look
on his face. The entire thing was debunked when a video showed up on the
internet of the entire incident completely contradicting Roger "the liar"
Simon's description of events.
Now listen to the sound Reagan conservative principals of Senator Fred Thompson.
